Boateng has struggled to find a regular starting role in the Schalke side so far this season, playing in just seven of the Bundesliga side’s 12 league games.
And he is believed to looking at other options despite having more than a year remaining on his current contract.
The 27-year-old playmaker has moved clubs six times in seven years, playing in England, Germany and Italy but could be heading to the US to join MLS if his fiancee Melissa Satta is to be believed.
“He is still playing for many years. In the future we will probably move again. Maybe Kevin will play in the MLS,” she said.
If Boateng were to move at the end of his current deal he could be one of the first signings for either Atlanta or Los Angeles Football Club as the two expansion sides are set to enter MLS in 2017.
The dynamic midfielder is undoubtedly talented, and it is intriguing to see a player in the prime of his career being linked with a switch to America.
And although it is unlikely we’ll see Boateng playing in MLS anytime soon, it is certainly something to keep a close eye on going forward.
