This follows the directive from the Energy Ministry for ongoing load management exercises to be extended to the country’s industrial zones starting Monday, December 1, 2014 until the end of the year.
If implemented, consumers in residential areas will have some relief as more power would be made available to them.
Ahead of the publication of the new schedule, Director of Public Affairs at the PURC, Nana said on Joy FM that the revised programme would mitigate the impact of the frequent power outages experienced by companies located outside the industrial zones.
“There are some SMEs (Small and Medium scale Enterprises)…within designated residential areas who didn’t have the benefit of not going off,” she noted.
She was certain that “the schedule [when it comes out] will lead to some improvements in the load shedding exercise in residential areas.”
