President John Mahama has instructed the Inspector General Police (IGP) to urgently resolve all outstanding murder cases in the country.

This, according to him, will put an end to the menace that has become rampant in recent times.

He said, “We want to stop this kind of impunity, it’s becoming too rampant. It happened with the DCE. Then also the late chief of Bimbilla was attacked in his palace and murdered. It happened in Seikwa, the Chief of Seikwa was shot in the evening and then even recently in Kumasi, a businessman has also just been shot.

The President gave the orders when the family of the late Nkwanta-South District Chief Executive (DCE), Peter Kojo Kenyesu visited him to brief him on the funeral arrangements.

The late Kenyesu was shot by unknown assailants on November 3, 2014 at his residence.

The President said there is the need to deal with the perpetrators of these crimes since the killings threaten the peace and security of the country.

“This impunity must stop, and I am asking the police to investigate and deal very firmly with the perpetrators of these acts,” he added.

In a related development, the chiefs in Ho are threatening to replace the Police in the area with the Asogli warriors, saying they feel unsafe in the hands of the police.
