Sir John speaking on Adom FM Friday said the vehicle was given to him in 2004 by the NDC financier as part payment for legal services he offered him then.
“If Woyome gave me anything, then it is as a result of the legal services I offered him and this occurred before 2005…so it has nothing to do with the judgement debt paid him in 2010…,” he said.
The Woyome case flared up once more in the public domain after an Accra High Court acquitted and discharged the businessman of criminal charges leveled against him by the Attorney General.
Since the John Ajet-Nassam judgement which condemned the A-G department for lackadaisically prosecuting the case, the public has been on the heels of the A-G to force her to resign.
The NPP at a press conference this week asked for the prosecution of all state officials said to be involved in the Woyome case.
And these officials, NDC communicators insist, include the former NPP scribe who they said was a close friend of Mr. Alfred Woyome and allegedly benefited from the booty.
Sir John confirmed that he developed a relationship with Mr. Woyome between 2002 and 2003 when he, Sir John was working at the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) where someone introduced Mr. Woyome to him.
He continued that he then became his legal counsel from that time and in some cases chose to be paid with tangibles other than cash. This process, he said is not new as Lawyers at times demand same from their clients. He recounted how he has gained parcels of land from some of his clients under similar means.
This, he said include four parcels of land located on the Accra-Kasoa highway in Accra and three plots located in Ahenema Kokoben in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi. But Sir John was at painst to stress that he took the Rav 4 vehicle and cash for services rendered in 2004, six clear years before the payment of the GhC51 million Woyome judgment debt.
The former NPP scribe has since served notice that he would sue anyone who links him to the judgment debt, which the Supreme Court has ruled as being fraudulently obtained.
