The frustrations of former Nkronza North MP, Eric Amoateng, is set to continue after an Accra Circuit Court adjourned proceedings to April 8th to allow the prosecution to call additional witnesses.

The ex-convict is battling the state over allegations by State prosecutors that the passport used by the former MP to return to his home country was fake.

The former NPP MP for Nkoranza North was returning after serving his 10-year detention in the U.S. for possessing narcotics.

The trial has lasted for 8 months. Amoateng’s counsel has been vocal in expressing discontent about feet-dragging by the prosecution.

For three months, neither the prosecutor nor the investigator showed up in court any time the case was called, a situation that has also angered the presiding Judge.

Mr Amoateng's lawyer, Charles Puozing is mulling over the option of filing a submission of no case to end the 8-month trial of his client when the state closes its case.

Charles Puozing believes the state has failed to establish the guilt of his client, insisting all the witnesses produced by the state so far have not been able to prove any crime against the former legislator.
