The charges against Damion (World) Hardy include six murders he is accused of ordering — from the 1998 assassination of a bouncer in a Brooklyn roller skating center to the 2003 killing of a former Mike Tyson bodyguard.
“He handed out death sentences with a simple line: ‘He has to go,’ ” prosecutor Rena Paul said during opening statements in Brooklyn Federal Court. “World’s order was to kill on sight.”
Hardy allegedly founded the Cash Money Brothers gang that ruled over the Lafayette Gardens housing complex in Bed-Stuy.
Defense lawyer David Ruhnke argued that the entire case is hinged on the words of cooperating witnesses — criminals “who laughed at society’s rules their whole lives” and cannot be trusted, he told the jury.
Hardy, 41, once lived in the New Jersey mansion of Lil’ Kim and was reportedly engaged to the rap diva.
