Brendan Rodgers is facing a major dressing room crisis at Liverpool.

The Anfield boss called a meeting after training at Melwood yesterday and accused several players of not playing for him.

Some senior players spoke up angrily against Rodgers as they were left incensed at the accusation.

Some have been left disaffected in recent weeks and now Rodgers is facing the biggest test of his reign at Anfield.

He has already conceded Liverpool’s hopes of reaching the top four and was left furious after the defeat at Arsenal on Saturday.

The players had a warm down yesterday ahead of the FA Cup quarter final replay at Blackburn on Wednesday.

They must go to Ewood Park with a depleted squad as Martin Skrtel, Steven Gerrard and Emre Can are suspended and Daniel Sturridge is struggling for fitness.

But now the dressing room has been left annoyed by Rodgers amid a growing crisis at Anfield.

Club captain Gerrard is leaving the club at the end of the season while Liverpool are facing contract stand-offs with England stars Raheem Sterling and Jordan Henderson.
Big match verdict: Arsenal 4-1 Liverpool

Rodgers also said £16million Italy striker Mario Balotelli claimed he took it upon himself to decide he was not fit to play at Arsenal.

When asked if the top four was out of reach, Rodgers said: “I think so. I’m a realist as well. I wouldn’t expect the others to slip up.

“Liverpool is a great club. But, of course, players want to play at the top level of the game and if you’re not in the Champions League it makes it difficult for you.”
