USA-based Ghanaian Reggae and soul singer, Rocky Dawuni has expressed worry over lack of local support for his music despite overwhelming success on the international stage.

He said, he is promoting Ghanaian culture to the rest of the world with his music and does not understand why he rarely gets the support of Ghanaians.

"If Billboard, which is the biggest chart in the world is totally charting my album, I don't think it is in my hands to decide why Ghanaian DJs are not giving me enough support,” he said in an interview with Hitz FM's MzGee.

Rocky Dawuni's latest album 'Branches of the Same Tree' sits at number nine on the international grading reggae chart Billboard.

He also rejects the claim that he could be suffering a lack of support because his songs are not Ghanaian friendly.

"A lot of the times in most our part of the world if you are not paying for air play sometimes your music doesn't get played but the thing is good music should be supported either way".

He believes that he has worked hard enough to be worthy of some form of support from Ghanaians.

"People have known me for a long time that I don't think there is the need for me to keep proving that".

Rocky who has six albums to his credit however dispelled comments by sound engineer Hammer of the Last Two that his song 'In Ghana' did not make hit compared to Daddy Lumba's 'Aben Wo Ha'.

He said, "I don't really agree with that because 'Aben Wo Ha' is a classic song on its own in a traditional line, which means in Ghana but to let you know, the whole world know 'In Ghana'".

"'In Ghana' is more an International song beyond Ghana, for me it did very well and it was the song that really exposed me to the international  audience

“I don't really know if Hammer is aware as to how impacting 'In Ghana' was world wide ", he added.
