Wiz Khalifa’s single “See You Again” off the Furious 7 soundtrack was one of the biggest hits of 2015. The song, which featured singer Charlie Puth, topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for twelve non-consecutive weeks and received three Grammy nominations.

It appears Wiz was not the first rap star approached about recording the track. According to reports, 50 Cent told the Boomer & Carton radio show last fall that he and his musical mentor Eminem were asked to tackle “See You Again,” but Em’s involvement with another film soundtrack blocked the action.

“At the time [Eminem and I] had to make a decision between doing that and the song for Fast & Furious,” said 50. “And that [“See You Again”] was a huge success for Wiz Khalifa and them. [Eminem] decided to do Southpaw because he was invested in the project.”

Eminem contributed to several songs on the Southpaw soundtrack including “Kings Never Die” with Gwen Stefani and the lead single “Phenomenal.” 50 Cent’s “Drama Never Ends” was also included on the project.
