Francis Gbene,33, a tutor at the Mampong Midwifery Training School and his brother, Timothy, 28 were shot dead Wednesday dawn in what police say was a mistake shoot.
Speaking to Abdul Razak Asiagodo Thursday morning on Sampa-based Gye Nyame FM, the Mampong Police Commander, Superintendent Bismark Agyapong revealed that the police on duty mistook the brothers for armed robbers following an alarm of robbery attack that was raised by some tenants.
Superintendent Agyapong further disclosed that the Police have had a tough time engaging school authorities and family members of the deceased after the unfortunate incident.
"it’s a big blow for all of us…we have met the midwifery staff and explained the situation to them”.
"We are not happy this happened. We regard human life as precious. Our condolences to the family of the deceased brothers", the devastated Superintendent pleaded.
Neither would the commander blame the deceased nor his men on duty for the incident, but hastened to add that investigations had been launched into the matter.
