But for the timely intervention of some passers by at the Berekum lorry park in the Berekum Municipality in the Brong Ahafo Region, Kwabena Asuamah, a local journalist would have been punched in the face till death by a Zoomlion official, last Sunday.

Moses Donkor, a tricycle supervisor at the waste management company,  Zoomlion Ghana Limited, in Berekum who is reported to have not been comfortable with some words the Chris FM News Editor used on him some days back, pounced on Kwabena after a confrontation with him on the issue.

DayzEntertainment.com gathers that the  journalist wanted to know from the authorities why the waste collecting vehicle had not been working for weeks, leaving the entire municipality engulfed in filth.

It is alleged that the Berekum municipality has only one van for collecting garbage in the area for years.

The only vehicle for collecting waste had been faulty for some days, leaving heaps of garbage in the principal streets of the town.

But Mr Donkor upon persistent calls from the journalist, impatiently spoke in a harsh way to him which made the latter tell him if he had just reported to his superiors about their faulty car and never followed up to check on how to repair it then they(Zoomlion workers) were working in a lazy way, a statement that never went down well with Mr Donkor.

Narrating the story to the Dayz Entertainment's  Piesie Okrah Henryson via phone, Kwabena Asuamah said he had even forgotten about the issue and was taking a stroll in town on Sunday night when he bumped into Mr Donkor in the company of some friends,  who started  an argument over the issue.

Kwabena recalled that he explained to him that the filth in the streets of Berekum were so nauseating so he did what the suffering masses wanted.

He continued that,  infuriated Mr Donkor would not listen but  rather punched him , leaving swellings and bruises in the face.

MR Asuamah explained that the heavy blows landed on his jaw and eyes unaware.

"It took me by surprise because I was not expecting those multiple blows from him", he added.

Kwabena is Said to have been saved by some good Samaritans who rushed to the scene and helped him report the matter to the Berekum Divisional Police and later to the Holy Family Hospital where he was diagnosed and discharged.

Authorities of the Zoomlion Ghana limited have declined to comment on the matter while the Berekum Police have launched investigations into the matter.

Meanwhile, efforts to reach Moses Donkor has proven futile since the incident happened around 7:30 last Sunday.
