Security guard shot dead in Johannesburg

Johannesburg – A security guard was shot dead outside Montgomery Flats in Berea, Johannesburg, on Monday morning, police said.

"Police in Hillbrow are investigating a case of murder against the unknown suspect," Captain Tsekiso Mofokeng told News24.

Mofokeng said the security guard was approached by an unknown man who then opened fired on his van.

He said the shooter's motive was at this stage still unknown.

"We're appealing to anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspect to come forward," he said.
