The awful incident occurred about 2:00 AM on the Bolgatanga -Navrongo road, where the vehicle was parked after developing a fault.
The vehicle is believed to have been travelling to Burkina Faso from Accra,says the police.
Narrating the incident to DayzEntertainment.com, Police Constable Felix Agyei, said the alleged armed robbers emerged from the bush to attack the deceased, Latiff, his colleague, Francis Osei and the driver, whose name was only given as Baba.
According to him, the victims were robbed of an amount of GHC4,000.00.
After the robbery, he added, the armed robbers asked them to lie prostrate and opened fire on them, leading to the death of one of the mates, Latiff.

The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Meanwhile, the surviving driver who sustained severe injuries in the gun attack, is responding to treatment at the hospital.
The alleged armed robbers are on the run after successfully embarking on the robbery expedition but the police has vowed to bring them to book soon.
