Ghana reggae dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has written to the Sports Ministry expressing his readiness to organize musical concerts across the nation to raise funds towards the maintenance of the various Sports stadia.

The Youth and Sports Minister Nii Lante Vanderpujje revealed this in an interview with Starr FM Sports.

According to Vanderpuije, the “Kakai” Hitmaker born Charles Nii Armah Jnr. is worried about the current state of the four national stadia and wants to contribute towards their maintenance through a nationwide live concert.

“Last week I received a proposal from the managers of Shatta Wale…Shatta wants to organize concerts across the country to raise funds for the rehabilitation of the Accra, Kumasi, Essipong and Tamale stadia” the former Deputy Local Government Minister said.

Vanderpuije added; “He [Shatta] also wants to raise funds for the Black Stars, so when people are ready to sacrifice for the country why should we rather allow others to waste resources.”

The four national stadia - Accra, Sekondi, Kumasi and Tamale - are fast deteriorating after only eight years since Ghana hosted the Africa Cup of Nation’s.

The Sekondi and Tamale stadia were purposely built for the Cup of Nations in 2008 while Accra and Kumasi had to go through refurbishment.
