Communications Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah has said the ruling National Democratic Congress is battle ready to confront the main opposition New Patriotic Party if they decide to play the “drug politics” in the 2016 elections.

According to him, the record of the NPP as far as narcotic drugs are concerned is poor and pungent.

“ I want to tell the NPP, we have a nation to build and they are key actors in this nation building agenda, but if they think the drug trade and the debate on it is what is going to propel them to win 2016, then they are thinking about the unthinkable,” Omane Boamah stated on Radio Gold’s Alhaji and Alhaji, Saturday.

He added: “The NPP will not win and cannot win the battle they have started on the drug trade. Their record is poor and pungent”.

He said NDC will marshal all its resources to prove to Ghanaians that they have been more potent in the fight against drugs in the country.

The debate on the fight against drugs has become topical in Ghana following the arrest of three people at the Kotoka International Airport in connection with a 12.5-kg cocaine bust of a Ghanaian Lady with Austrian citizenship at Heathrow Airport on November 9/10 by UK authorities.
