DAILY GUIDE’s indicates that two people have been brutally butchered to death by some unknown people in the area.
In view of that, the youth on Monday staged a peaceful demonstration against the regional police command, which arrested over 80 of the demonstrators for not obtaining a permit before embarking on the demonstration.
The protesters, wearing red bands and attires, marched to the regional police command and asked the police to give them the assurance that the residents of the area would be protected since the frequent murder cases had sent some fear into the people, making some farmers to abandon their farms.
The two victims were Maame Esi Ntifuah, who was allegedly butchered in her farm on December 2, 2014 and Papa Kofi Acquah, also purportedly murdered when he was going to Asebu Ekroful from Potubiew in the district on January 2, 2015.
DAILY GUIDE gathered that Kofi Acquah aka KK, 55 years old who was the 2013 district best farmer, had his hand, and some of his parts removed.
Information had it that the Abura Dunkwa District Police Command, with the help of the regional police command, had since conveyed the bodies to the regional hospital morgue for autopsy.
Briefing this paper, a family member of Acquah who gave his name as Nicholas Ahenakwa, said the incident happened at 5:00 pm, saying that the wife of the deceased became alarmed when the husband, who went to Potubiew in the morning, had not returned. She, therefore, decided to go and look for him.
The family member added that upon reaching the outskirts of the town, the woman saw a dense crowd at the place and tried to go and look at what was happening only to discover that her husband had been murdered.
According to sources, one person had been arrested to assist the police in investigations.
