The
Catholic Bishop of the Sunyani Dioceses of the Catholic Church, Most
Rev Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi, has noted that there is not a single
government that can implement free education in the country because it
is expensive and calls for collaborations.
Most Rev Matthew Kwasi
Gyamfi made the observation at Dormaa Masu in the Dormaa Municipality
of the Brong Ahafo Region during the inauguration of a six-unit block
for the Delany Academy School, constructed by the Patrician Brothers at a
cost of GH₵600,000.
Most Rev Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi advised the
gathering that they should not allow themselves to be deceived by
politicians that they are capable of implementing free education in the
country.
He urged them to do all they can to educate their child so that in the future they enjoy from their sweat.
Most
Rev Gyamfi said parents should not put all their hopes on government to
provide their children’s education, and called on them to provide their
children with quality education.
“No government can implement
free education in the country ... it calls for a collaboration between
government and parents. My advice to you is that do not allow yourselves
to be deceived by the politicians that they can implement free
education; when they ask you about who gave you that information that
governments cannot provide free education, tell them I did,” Most Rev
Gyamfi noted.
The Head of Delany Academy, Brother A. Stanislaus,
who is also the spokesperson for the Patrician Brothers Indo-Ghana
Province, was grateful to the Patrician Brothers for their support in
constructing the classroom block for the school, which he says would go a
long way to give quality education to the children in the community.
He noted that the building would be put to good use to benefit the community and its environs. |
