Captain of the Ghana Black Stars Asamoah Gyan bagged his 11 goal of the season for his United Arab Emirates club on Sunday.
The Ghanaian who has regained his scoring form for his club after the Africa Cup of Nations tournament scored the second of two for Al Ain in the home game against Al Jazira.
Omar Abdulrahman opened the scoring for Al Ain before Ghana international Asamoah Gyan added to make it 2-0. Al Jazira pulled one back via Manuel Lanzini in additional first half minutes to send both sides into the dressing room with a 2-1 score line in favour of the home side.
Both Al Ain and Al Jazira failed to find the back of the net in the second half as the game ended in a 2-1 victory for Gyan’s side.
The win puts Al Ain on course for the Arabian Gulf League title as they currently lead the league by a three-point margin ahead of second placed Al Jazira.
Asamoah Gyan played in the entire duration of top of the table clash against Al Jazira without a booking.
