Bootylicious
The R’n’B girl group, Destiny’s Child, is partially responsible for the word becoming so wildly popular back in the 00s. Even though the word already appeared in a Snoop Dogg song, Destiny’s Child made it wildly popular. It was entered into the OED not long after and means “(Of a woman) sexually attractive.”

YOLO
The acronym, which means “You Only Live Once” was coined by Canadian rapper Drake in 2011. It became widely (and rather annoyingly) used all over the interwebs and was entered into the Oxford English Dictionary.

Bye Felicia
Rapper Ice Cube popularised the phrase in his 1995 movie Friday and the phrase became popular again in 2015 as a way to tell someone you’re done with a conversation.

Wardrobe malfunction
Before the infamous incident involving Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake at the 2004 Super Bowl, it was called a “nip slip”, but it became known as a “wardrobe malfunction” after JT called it exactly that in a statement issued after the incident.

Cray
“That shit cray” says Kanye West several times on Niggas in Paris.  A popular Californian abbreviation of the word “crazy”, the internet soon made sure that cray became crazy (or is it cray?) popular.

That’s hot
Paris Hilton popularised the phrase on her reality TV show, The Simple Life, back in 2007 and then proceeded to trademark it. She sued Hallmark a few years ago for using her image and the phrase.

Amazeballs
It’s still not clear who invented the word (which basically means beyond amazing) exactly, but it seems that it might be celebrity blogger Perez Hilton or comedy duo Jessica and Hunter. Either way, one of them created one of the most annoying words ever.

Smize
Tyra Banks has brought many special words to our attention like “flawsome” and “tooch”, but the most popular of her strange phrases is “smize” which means “to smile with your eyes”.

Jiggy
Remember back in the ‘90s when we were all getting jiggy with it? Well, thanks to the song of the same name by Will Smith (back when he still made music), the word became very popular and had various meanings.

If you didn't know, now you know!
