Fennec Okyere was killed at his Manet Gardens residence on the Spintex Road, Accra on Thursday, March 13, 2014 by some unknown assailants. He died at age 31.
He was laid to rest after a funeral service held at the forecourt of the Trade Fair Centre, La-Accra on Saturday, April 26.
Lawrence Nana Asiama Hanson (Bulldog), manager of dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, was picked up by the Police Criminal Investigative Department (CID) over the death of Fennec in May last year. He was later granted bail by the Human Rights Court.
The same year his manager was murdered, controversial rapper, Kwaw Kese was also arrested by the police in Kumasi on Saturday, November 22, for allegedly smoking cannabis in public.
He made several appearances in court and shuttled between prison and the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital after he fell ill but he was granted bail on December 30, 2014.
In what will be an intriguing coincidence, Kwaw Kese is set to reappear in court Friday - a day to mark the first anniversary of the murder of his manager.
The rapper told Myjoyonline.com in a brief interview that he won’t be able to comment on the anniversary of his manager’s passing.
According to him, his focus is the court appearance and will make comments after that.
The controversial rapper has been remembering his former manager on social media.
Kwaw Kese posted on Facebook: “I woke up today crying cos it's exactly 1 year today that you got murdered in cold blood. You would forever remain in my heart as the best thing that ever happened to me. Miss you loads Fennec Kwame Okyere #RestinHeaven”
He posted a photograph of his manager on Instagram with the caption: “Rest in Heaven Fennec!!! One year ago you were murdered in cold blood but your legacy lives on!!! You are the best thing that ever happened to me and I miss u so bad !!!”
