Several placards announce the achievements of the president as the supporters cram the streets dressed in new party T-shirts embossed with a 2012 campaign picture of the president.
The placards announced markets under construction, health centers and a Kumasi Park while some simply displayed their resolve to vote for the president irrespective of what he does while in office.
“Come rain or shine, I will vote for Mahama”, the tone of a placard said.
The march has been described by the organisers as “an outpouring of love” for the president.
The Organised Youth of Ashanti (OYA) say they are not oblivious to the current challenges facing the country, prominent of which is a defiant power crisis.
Nonetheless one of their leaders explained to Luv FM’s Eratus Asare Donkor;
“We cannot fold our hands and say that indeed we do not have power so therefore all the developmental projects that the president has undertaken cannot be recounted”
According to party strategists, securing one million votes in the Ashanti region, an opposition stronghold, will be enough to undo the political aspirations of the New Patriotic Party to return to power in the 2016 general elections.
