"I've made a lot of songs that are just really, really big songs," the Grammy winner, 27, told MTV when looking forward to her next album. "From the jump, they just blow up. And I wanted to kind of just get back to... not that they weren’t real music, but I just wanted to focus on things that felt real, that felt soulful, that felt forever."
"I wanted songs that I could perform in 15 years," Rihanna continued. "I wanted an album that I could perform in 15 years -- not any songs that were burnt out. I find that when I get on stage now, I don't want to perform a lot of my songs because they don't feel like me. So I want to make songs that are timeless."
Whether she likes it or not, Leonardo DiCaprio's rumored lady continues to perform the tracks that made her famous. This past August, she went on a quick tour with Eminem, playing earworms including 2008's "Live Your Life," 2009's "Run This Town," 2007's "Umbrella," and 2010's "Rude Boy."
Rih recently began work on her upcoming studio album, her first since 2012's Unapologetic. The record, which included hits like "Stay" and "Pour It Up," was certified platinum and hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
Currently without a release date, Rihanna's eighth album R8 will be led by the Kanye West and Paul McCartney collaboration "FourFiveSeconds," and executive produced by West.
