Pressure keeps mounting on beleaguered National Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Paul Afoko, and his General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong to resign their respective positions as soon as possible.

Latest to join the chorus is a group based in the party’s stronghold known as the Identifiable Groups of NPP in Ashanti Region.

The group chair by former DCE of Amansie Central, Nana Kwame Asamoah Boateng, believes the duo have caused so much disaffection in the party that they have lost support of almost all party aficionados.

“There's an old adage that goes ‘he who thinks he's leading and has no one following him is only taking a walk’ Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong should turn back and see if people are following them or not,” the group said in a statement
"Based on these backdrops, The Groups and the many agitated party members maintain that Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong must resign for their own good and the good of the Party else the party cannot win 2016 election."

Below is the full statement

Mr. Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong Must Resign

The NPP party has seen leadership of many able men and women over the past years and gone,  there had been no time in our party that this kind of rumpus had developed. The masses have been containing these acts by our party Chairman and General Secretary for far too Long and we believe enough is enough, they should step aside and let the Unity we had prevail.
All the tensions and fights in the party for almost a year and over have been coming from the top. Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong do not know how to handle human groups, they have no skills and ability to gain trust of their followers. They wanted to manage human beings like machines- indeed they have lost touch with people.
The Identifiable in Ashanti Region are Very Much aware of the fact that there is an internal wrangling in the party, We are fully aware that Kwabena Agyepong and Paul Afoko are not even in talking terms with our able Ashanti regional chairman, Mr. Bernard Antwi Bosiako for so long a time just because chairman Wontumi have vowed to see Nana Addo in power come 2016 which maybe is against their hidden agenda against Nana Addo.
It depends on one’s own way of relating to people in the party. It depends on one’s own way of the kind of approach to issues and matters pertaining to a political party of Human Beings. How on earth can Afoko and Agyepong go to the 3 Northern regions and other regions where they have voted "Vote of no confident" on them to work with the party?
We indeed congratulate the party in the Central, Eastern, Volta, Western, and the three Northern regions for their BOLD DECISION. We hope Ashanti and other regions will follow suit to show the total unity of the party at regional levels.
“The party needs peace to win power in 2016. These two national leaders are expected to show sign of true hearts for our common goal but it is rather the opposite. A party that worked creditably while in power and opposition should not be experiencing what is happening. Every day after the Tamale election, one trouble after the other, I don’t think that is what the party wants.” - Hon. Elizabeth Agyeman, MP for Oforikrom.

Example was the open outburst by Mr. Paul Afoko on Adom FM's morning show on Thursday 21/05/2015, mentioning that he was not in good talking terms with Chairman Adams Mahama. The big question is, Must this Be the attitude of a Chairman? This cannot win the Party Power in 2016, if we have a Chairman and His General Secretary who do not talk to other Constituency and Regional Executives just because they supported  Nana Addo during the presidential primaries then we have huge problem to face.
Based on these backdrops, The Groups and the many agitated party members maintain that Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong must resign for their own good and the good of the Party else the party cannot win 2016 election.
The rotting teeth must be removed. There is enemy in the camp, we must chase him out. We cannot drink poison and still live....we must throw the poison out.
There's an old adage that goes "he who thinks he's leading and has no one following him is only taking a walk" Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong should turn back and see if people are following them or not.
