President John Mahama sacks three MMDCEs in Western region

Three Municipal, Metropolitan and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the Western region have been ordered by President John Mahama to step aside.

They are:

1. Sylvester D. Nuamah - Jomoro DCE
2. Captain Anthony Cudjoe - Takoradi MCE
3. Mrs Christiana Cobbinah - Tarkwa MCE

According to a statement from the Presidency, President Mahama took the decision “based on Article 243 and 246 of the 1992 Constitution.”

They have also been directed to handover to the Regional Minister, Paul Evans Aidoo on June 30, 2015.

Article 243 and 246 state that MMDCEs can only be “…removed from office by the President; or he resigns or dies.”
