Have your favorite rap artists even been incarcerated? This list of all the rappers ever arrested and sent to prison in the history of rap music has the answer. So, which rappers went to jail?  Are their famous rappers in jail now? Rap stars in jail are common throughout music history and this is a running list of imprisoned rappers in the music industry. From 2 Chainz to R Kelly, these hip hop artists who've been sent to prison for their drama-filled lives. Most were convicted on drug charges, but others committed much more serious crimes, including murder and grand theft. Let's hope we don't have to keep adding to this jailed rappers list at quite this pace going forward!

2 Chainz
2 Chainz Was arrested after an eight-hour standoff with police in Oklahoma City for obstruction of justice after local authorities pulled his tour bus over for a busted tail light.

 Akon
 Akon was sentenced for theft as a youngster.

 Beanie was sentenced to a year and a day after catching weapon charges.

 Big Lurch
Lurch is currently serving a life sentence for murdering 21-year-old female roommate and eating parts of her body while under the influence of PCP in April 2002.

Sentenced for grand larceny.

Sentenced to life in prison for second-degree murder.

Sentenced to 11 1/2 years on charges of 3rd degree murder.

On death row for his involvement in the murder of a Philadelphia Police office in a bank robbery in January 1996.
 
 
 Da Brat
Da Brat was sentenced to three years in prison for assaulting a waitress in 2007.

Sentenced to four months in federal prison for tax evasion in 2013

Sentenced in 2000 to 12 years on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and probation violation.
 
 
 Foxy Brown
A year-long prison sentence for probation violations.
 
 Ja Rule
Ja Rule was arrested on gun charges after a hip hop concert in 2007.

He was arrested again in 2011 for tax evasion.
 
 
 John Forté
Sentenced to the mandatory minimum 14 years after being found guilty possession with intent to distribute cocaine and conspiracy to distribute. Was pardoned by George W. Bush in 2008. 
 
 
 Kid Cudi
Kid Cudi was arrested in June 2010 after cops found a glass bottle of a controlled substance after Cudi allegedly broke down the door of a 24-year-old woman and slammed her phone into the ground.
 
 
 Lauryn Hill
Hill was convicted of tax evasion in 2013 and sentenced to three months in jail and one year parole. 


Lil' Kim
Convicted of three counts of conspiracy and one count of perjury for lying to a grand jury about her co-manager, Damion "D-Roc" Butler, and bodyguard Suif "Gutta" Jackson's involvement in a 2001 shooting outside New York City radio station Hot 97.
 
 
 Lil Wayne
Sentenced to one year in prison for gun possession.
 
 Lloyd Banks
Sentenced for allegedly holding up, robbing and beating a music promoter in a New York hotel room in 2010.
 
 Mac Miller
Miller and his friends were arrested for possession of marijuana. They had to spend the night in jail in 2011.
 
 
 Max B
Found guilty of murder conspiracy and robbery charges stemming from a 2007 incident that left a man dead in a New Jersey hotel robbery. He was sentenced to 75 years in prison.
 
 
 Maino
Maino was sentenced to five to 15 years in prison for drug-related kidnapping during the early 90s.
 
 
 Mysonne
In 1999, he was convicted on two armed robbery charges and sentenced to seven to 14 years in jail. He was released in 2006.
 
 Petey Pablo
Convicted of illegal gun possession charges after he tried to sneak in a firearm in his carry-on luggage through an airport in 2012.
 
 Pimp C
Pimp was sentenced to eight years in prison for violating his probation, which he received because of a previous aggravated gun charge.
 
 
 R. Kelly
Charged with 21 counts of child p*********y and illegally engaging in sexual acts with a minor.
 
 Sean Combs
Arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen goods.
