A section of students demonstrated to the school authorities to do something about the frequent cases of theft and rape. However, when proceedings were not going as planned, the school cadet took over and patrolled till the police force in Wa came in.
Surprisely in this 2015 academic year, the Police force have been forced out unto the field. This is as a result of the frequent theft cases which has almost resumed once again. Thieves this time do not only visit the students on their way to their evening lectures but also their hostels and rooms. Laptops, mobile phones and motor bikes are among the things these thieves cherishes most.
As a result of the above mentioned, the Regional Police Commander in the municipal, decided to help tackle these forces of darkness with heavy patrol. Recently, a level 100 student was butchered and her purse and money stolen. This, the P.R.O for the Wa Police service advised the student body to stay away from going deeper in the night. He advised the students to lock their doors and make sure to stay safe as he was quizzed on the drive talk show on radio Ultimate, a campus based radio station by D.J Koma.
The Police has been true to their words. Everyday around 8pm, a patrol team on motor bikes and in cars hover around the campus, the Wa township and another town called Bamahu where most of the students stay. Since the beginning of their operation, two local guys between the ages of 12 and 20 has been arrested for attempting to steal from a hostel and a motor bike respectively. There have been several security checks to keep the students and the local folks in the municipal at peace. These, have helped to ease tension and kept students on their books.
