Katie Piper’s acid attacker has been told he must remain in jail after justice officials turned down his bid to be released.

Stefan Sylvestre, 27, was locked up indefinitely in 2009 after he left TV star Katie , 32, scarred for life.
The thug was born in the UK but it is understood he has dual nationality with Colombia and wanted to start a new life in South America, where he is said to have relatives.

However, his application for parole was rejected last week.

A spokesman for the Parole Board said:

“We can confirm that a panel of the board has not directed the release of Stefan Sylvestre. We are unable to comment further on this matter.”

Last night Katie refused to comment, but criminal justice expert Harry Fletcher said:
“This is an extremely serious offence which has had a massive impact on the victim, and therefore he can only be released if the system is absolutely certain he no longer poses a risk to women.”

Katie previously wrote in her autobiography of her devastation after hearing her tormentor was applying for parole. She said:

“I thought, ‘I’m the one with the life sentence. Not him’.
