And with Guardiola wanting a new challenge in the Premier League, City will move to snap up the man regarded as the world's leading coach. Bayern have offered Guardiola £16million a year to stay, and the 41-year-old was tempted by the offer, but is understood to have decided to leave for the chance to manage in the Premier Leage.
Guardiola will meet with Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge on Saturday, when he is expected to confirm his decision to quit. After Bayern's win over Darmstadt on Tuesday, Guardiola said:
"Tonight I have no answer. Next week there will be clarity."
Rummenigge confirmed Bayern expect a final decision from Guardiola on his future plans after their game against Hannover on Saturday.
"It's not planned to push back that date," said Rummenigge. "We have always said there will be a decision in 2015. "I know that it's late, just days before Christmas. But the talks will be held after the Hannover match, and we'll then announce a decision."
City insisted on Wednesday night that no approach has been made and no deal is in place for Guardiola.
