Cape Town - Four people have died in Kuils River, Cape Town after a reported shooting and two subsequent incidents took place near the train station on Monday morning.

Western Cape police confirmed the incident to News24 on Monday, indicating that the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) has gotten involved as well.

“This office can confirm that a robbery was perpetrated during the early hours of this morning at a petrol filling station in Kuilsrivier,” said Lieutenant Colonel Andre Traut.

Two subsequent incidents occurred thereafter, Traut said, in which four people were killed and three were injured.

“These incidents are now subject to an Ipid investigation and this office will not be elaborating on the detail at this stage.”

Nooiensfontein Road has been closed between Kuils River Station and the Danarand four-way stop following the reported shooting, Eyewitness News reported on Monday.

Other trains on the Northern line have been delayed by up to 90 minutes due to a power signal failure at Kuils River station, Metrorail tweeted on Monday.

It was not specified if the power signal failure is related to the shooting incident nearby.
