Judges at the International Criminal Court (ICC) have added a year to Jean-Pierre Bemba’s 18-year jail term following the former Congolese vice president’s conviction for attempting to bribe witnesses during his war crimes trial. 
 
After a second trial on the separate charges, Bemba on Wednesday was also ordered to pay a 300,000 euro ($323,670) fine to the court’s fund supporting victims of atrocities. 
 
Found guilty last year of bribery, the verdict and sentence are the first of their kind in the history of the ICC. 
 
The decision to bring bribery charges against Bemba and four members of his legal team was seen by criminal law experts as a sign that prosecutors had decided to get tough on a practice that threatened their ability to prosecute the gravest crimes.

Nigerian police have warned popular singer 2face Idibia that he will be arrested if he goes ahead with Monday's march in the main city, Lagos, to protest against the worsening economic crisis in the oil-rich state, local media reports. 
 
The artist is demanding an "urgent explanation into the reckless economic downturn nationwide". 
 
The protest is due to take place in both Lagos and the capital, Abuja, with support being rallied on Twitter:

UK based Ghanaian Gospel musician Sonnie Badu has confirmed claims by Reverend Lawrence Tetteh, founder and President of the Worldwide Miracle Outreach (WMO) that he gave him his first international exposure. 
 
Days ago, reports surfaced online that the man of God had “bragged” about giving Sonnie Badu his first international exposure and that obviously means no harm to Sonnie Badu since it is true. 
 
As monitored by <a href="http://nydjlive.com/brag-some-more-about-me-sonnie-badu-asks-rev-lawrence-tetteh/">NYDJ</a>, Sonnie Badu who has been busy touring the world with his ministry affirmed the comments by Lawrence Tetteh, who he refers to as “papa”. 
 
According to him, the comments are “very very very true” and that he continues to polish his shoes and irons his shirts when ever he is with him. 
 
This was to put to rest calls and questions put to him by a number of media houses. 
 
In a post, Sonnie Badu said,

Dancehall singer Livingstone Satekla (known in showbiz as Stonebwoy), has announced that popular Nigerian singer Tekno Miles will mount his GHANA ROCKS: The Bhim Concert , which is slated for the Accra International Conference Centre tomorrow, December 27th. He made this known to audiences at Sarkodie’s Rapperholic 2016 concert during his performance with him. 
 
Stonebwoy has released his own rendition Tenno’s Pana song, and recently collaborated with him on Last Station, which they’re expected to perform on the night. 
 
This year’s edition of the Charter House event will also see sterling supporting performances from Samini, MzVee, Jupitar, and Nigeria’s Cynthia Morgan, organisers have revealed. 
 
CharterHouse’s George Quaye reveals on Starr FM Saturday morning, that a highlight of the show is the return to the original intention of celebrating a particular artist with each concert, which happens to be the Baafira singer on this occasion. 
 
The event, which has paraded some of the most prominent Ghanaian and UK-based acts including Ofori Amponsah, Samini, Chipmunk among others, comes off December 27 at the Accra International Conference Centre.

A signed letter from Muhammad Ali to Nelson Mandela offering his condolences on the death of an anti-apartheid leader has sold for £7,200. 
 
The typed letter, signed by the boxing legend on “Muhammad Ali in South Africa” stationery, dates from 1993. It was sold in an auction in Devizes. Auctioneer Andrew Aldridge said: “It’s fair to say Mohammad Ali was the greatest sportsman of all time and Nelson Mandela was one of the greatest figures of the last century.” 
 
‘Fierce opponent’ 
 
The letter was typed by the personal assistant to the general manager of the Elangeni Hotel in Durban, where former world heavyweight champion Ali was staying at the time. 
 
Henry Aldridge and Son said the letter was sold to a collector in the US. 
 
It was expected to fetch between £6,000 and £8,000. The letter also includes an explanation as to why Muhammad Ali’s name was typed incorrectly by the personal assistant, who has sold the letter. 
 
“It is a truly iconic cross collectable and will appeal to collectors of Ali memorabilia as well as those who collect Nelson Mandela material, items relating to apartheid, political history and collectors of iconic memorabilia,” Mr Aldridge added. 
 
“Muhammad Ali was only in South Africa for a short period in April 1993, arriving shortly after the assassination of Chris Hani on 10 April. 
 
“Hani was the chief of staff of Umkhonto We Sizwe, the armed wing of the African National Congress (ANC). 
 
“He was a fierce opponent of the apartheid government and was murdered by a far right extremist outside of his home in Boksburg. 
 
“Against that backdrop Ali arrived in South Africa at a time when the country stood on the edge of a precipice with civil war a possibility. 
 
“He attended Hani’s farewell at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on 19 April 1993 and when he appeared to the crowd, they chanted ‘Ali! Ali!’.” 
 
Mr Aldridge said Mandela kept a photograph of himself with Ali on his desk and his favourite book, in his later years, was an autographed copy of Ali’s biography.

In August 2015, Tanzanian music star Diamond Platnumz and his socialite wife Zari Hassan welcomed their first baby together and that was a girl. 
 
A little over a year, there’s a new one and that’s a baby boy!! 
 
The couple welcomed a baby boy at 3:35AM (SA Time) on Tuesday, December 6 in South Africa. 
 
Prior to that, Diamond Platnumz shared updates as he and Hassan headed to the Netcare Pretoria East Hospital where she was admitted. 
 
Diamond Platnumz and Hassan welcomed their first daughter together, Tiffah Dangote, in 2015. 
 
Diamond Platnumz posted the photo above and said: 
 
“06th Dec 2016 03: 35am SA time…… 04: 35am EAST Time…. 02: 35am WEST Time…. 01: 35 am NORTH Time, A NEW STAR WAS BORN in NETCARE HOSPITAL / PRETORIA / SOUTH AFRICA…. unfortunately his parents Dad & Mom haven’t agreed on the name…. that’s why it even took time, to his advent to be on his parent’s Social media Pages….. Ghanaian Dancehall artiste Stonebwoy put a spin on ‘Heart Attack’ a song by Trey Songz during a recent episode of Coke Studio Africa. 
 
He covered the song which was nominated for Best R&B Song at the 2012 Grammys with Mozambican singer Neyma. 
 
The episode is a part of the fourth season of the show which brings together artistes from different genres, eras and countries on the continent to create a modern and authentic sound through music Mash Up.

In October 2016, Nigerian comedian Bright Okpocha, popular known by the stage name, Basketmouth announced via social media the loss of his beloved mother. 
 
In a post on Instagram, he wrote; 
 
“Last night my angel left me, my first love stopped breathing and it’s the deepest pain I’ve ever felt. I love you for every sacrifice you made to make me the man I am today, I’ve loved you through the tough times. I’ve loved you through happier days and all I can say at this point is that I will love you forever. I will miss you mummy.” 
 
Barely a month after the passing and with all the pain in the heart, the comedian has given the mother a befitting burial. This happened over the weekend. 
 
In a post, Basket Mouth said, ” 
Goodbye Mum, you’ll live in our hearts forever.”

Organizers of the MTV EMAs have cleared the confusion on the ‘Best African Act’ award earlier announced as Wizkid but later withdrawn and given to Tanzania’s Ali Kiba. 
 
The error sparked a social media outcry and MTV has now cleared the air on the unfortunate error. 
 
An MTV spokesperson commented, ‘Both Wizkid and Alikiba are great artistes and deserving winners at the MTV EMAs and we congratulate them wholeheartedly on their achievements. We apologize for any confusion but we are pleased to recognize the achievements of both these artists on this global platform.’ 
 
6 ‘Worldwide Act’ winners, including Wizkid, were selected by an international committee of MTV music executives to recognize current artists who are rising to have a wider geographic appeal beyond their local regions. 
 
The winners were chosen based off a range of criteria including international MTV video play, radio airplay, streams, and sales across multiple territories and regions. 
 
The winner of the ‘Best African Act’ award was selected by fans via votes on MTVEMA.com. 
 
Alikiba has also commented on winning the award saying, ‘Thanks to MTV for this huge honour – it’s very exciting to be recognized at the MTV EMAs and I am delighted to bring home the award to my fans in Tanzania and East Africa.  Thank you to my family and management.’

The artist signed to Starboy Worldwide was a co-host on “Destination Africa” with BBC 1Xtra’s DJ Edu two days ago, where he had the opportunity to answer questions thrown in by fans concerning his music career. 
 
With rawness, but a silky, promising and well-lit range talent showcased in his career thus far, Mr Eazi took some time to give an insight on why his upcoming mix tape is named ‘Accra to Lagos’. 
 
“The mix tape bears that name because my music basically started in Accra, moved to Lagos and is now all over the place. Generally I’ve been embarking on a lot of road trips, so my music is inspired mainly by expressions from both Ghana and Nigeria. I needed to make a compilation.” 
 
Eazi also touched on how his life has changed since the release of ‘Bankulize’ which featured Pappy Kojo, as well his days spent in Kwame University of Science and Technology (Knust). 
 
Although he acquired admission in Canada, his Parents recommended Knust for Mr Eazi mainly because of their tremendous academic performance and strict and rich educational system in Ghana. Also to enable a strong connection with his extended family in Ghana. 
 
“My move to Ghana was a blessing, it’s the reason I’m here today,’’ he affectionately said. 
 
“Accra To Lagos” drops in December 2016, parading the likes of Wizkid, Phyno, Olamide, Haile, Medikal and more with songs like Skin Tight (remix) , Tilapia ( Bankulize & Shitor Sequel), Life is Eazi , etc . 
 
His UK tour also kicks off next year.

Nigerian artist Wizkid has won the Best African Act at the 2016 Pre MOBO Awards show. 
 
Wizkid seems to have had a very impressive year winning several awards. 
 
The 2016 MOBO Pre Awards show took place at the Cagogan Hall in London, on Thursday, October 27th and for the second consecutive year singer, songwriter and producer Shakka picked home the Best R&B/Soul Act for 2016. 
 
The awards show saw exhilarating performances from Jaheme, Shakka, Moelogo, Volney Morgan, China Moses, and many others. 
 
The event featured presentations of the MOBO Best R&B/Soul Act, Best Jazz Act, Best Gospel Act awards and Best African Act. 
 
The 2016 Music of Black Origin Awards comes off on 4th November in Glasgow. Artists confirmed to perform include Wiley, Lady Leshurr & Popcaan.

Controversial musician, Wanlov the Kubolor, born Emmanuel Owusu-Bonsu, has given a detailed explanation as to why he posted a nude photograph of himself on social media Tuesday. 
 
The controversial musician put social media into a frenzy by posting a nude picture of his on Instagram. 
 
According to him, he went naked as a result of how hot he felt while climbing a mountain situated at the Wli Falls. 
 
The musician, who referred to his manhood as a ‘baby sausage’, stated that posting the picture was his way of promoting tourist sites in Ghana and believes that it has achieved its purpose. 
 
Wanlov explained in an interview with Hitz @ 1 that “Yes, I wanted the people of Ghana to see the nice tourist attraction. Oh yes. I’m sure it has. I posted the picture yesterday and today somebody wants to come from Germany to go to the waterfalls so I’m promoting tourism.” 
 
“They want to go there because the water falls is nice to take pictures there and not because of me so I’m doing Ghana tourism council’s work,” he added. 
 
He went on to describe the various ways in which he promotes tourism in Ghana and added how unbothered he feels about the nude picture. 
 
“I have many styles of promoting tourism. Through my music, through my video clips, pictures so that’s just one of them and it was even by the way. For me, nakedness doesn’t bother me at all. It’s just a new so-called standard we haven’t always been so conscious of. 
 
“It’s the Europeans that felt inadequate when they got here seeing Africans walking around naked. This felt inadequate so they designed a way to tell us that our nakedness was a sin because they couldn’t go naked as well,” he explained. 
 
When asked if he felt he has broken any law according to the norms and constitution of the country, he said he doesn’t believe nakedness is against the law adding he is sometimes a ‘mad’ man. 
 
“Oh, it’s not a pornographic picture. I know pornography is against the law but being naked is not against the law if it was against the law, mad people won’t be walking around naked,” he said. 
 
The musician also explained why he doesn’t feel obliged to teach any morals and emphasising his act wasn’t aimed at drawing attention to himself. 
 
Wanlov plans on doing something big to reclaim his record from fellow musician Wisa Greid who was also alleged to have a history of going semi-nude on stage during a live concert. 
 
“Oh, I didn’t come to this planet to teach anybody morals. The so-called people teaching morals are more thieves and more crook than I am so I’m not here to pretend to be teaching anybody any lesson I was just standing there naked. 
 
"I’ve planned to do something before the year is over to take back my record from Wisa but this is not it this is just awarm-up,” he said. 
 
This is not the first-time images of Wanlov’s nakedness has hit the media landscape. 
 
He grabbed media attention when he was being interviewed by Deloris Frimpong Manso on the Delay show and she dared him to prove that he goes about his daily activities without any underwear. 
 
Wanlov and his group mate, M3nsa went completely naked in a photograph of them at an outdoor sauna in Finland.

Nominee for Best Live Act at the just ended 2016 MTV MAMA held at the TicketPro Dome in Johannesburg, South Africa, Stonebwoy Burniton has revealed why his nomination did not come to him as a surprise and was well deserved. 
 
Speaking to MTV Base VJ, Ehiz Okoeguale, during the red carpet interview, an elated Stonebwoy stated he’s never mimed during any of his performances and so found it well deserved. 
 
“When I heard the best live act, I knew that yeah, that category alone because when it comes to performance, I’ve never mimed in my life as I talk. Any show you’ve seen before, anyhow, anywhere, is a live mic and live voice so if I get a nominated for a category like this, it makes me happy”, he said. 
 
Stonebwoy was one of the performers on the night. 
 
He however lost out on the award to South African indie artist Cassper Nyovest.

The 2016 MTV MAMA came off Saturday October 22 2016 at the TicketPro Dome in Johannesburg, South Africa and quite sad for Ghana, none of its nominees including R2Bees, MzVee, Stonebwoy and E.L won in any of the categories under which they were nominated.

Nigerian actor Desmond Elliot is calling for support for his fellow actor, Prince James Uche, who is battling with kidney failure. 
 
He posted this on his Instagram page. 
 
According to Desmond Elliot, Prince James Uche had been suffering for about a year. 
 
“Please repost, rebroadcast, share: When God blesses u, remember others, Prince James Uche, Nollywood actor has been ill for many years and been in hospital struggling to survive for over one year now (kidney failure),” he said in the post. 
 
He went further to call for people to help  the ailing actor.
