Yes, the streets of Twitter ain’t safe for Mr. Eazi anymore as his recent tweet giving credence to Ghanaian music and its influence on present day Nigerian music seem not to have gone down well with a number of his following in Nigeria.<br />
<br />
It is often said that the truth is a bitter pill to swallow and one needs to have enough balls to actually want to spill it knowing the exact repercussions of it.<br />
<br />
All seemed well as the musician expressed his views on African music and it’s massive penetration on the world market until the skingtight hit maker gave credence to Ghana’s influence on present day Nigerian music.<br />
<br />
Yes, that was a major problem for a number of modern day Nigerians who perhaps have virtually little or no knowledge about African music.<br />

In October 2016, Nigerian comedian Bright Okpocha, popular known by the stage name, Basketmouth announced via social media the loss of his beloved mother.<br />
<br />
In a post on Instagram, he wrote;<br />
<br />
“Last night my angel left me, my first love stopped breathing and it’s the deepest pain I’ve ever felt. I love you for every sacrifice you made to make me the man I am today, I’ve loved you through the tough times. I’ve loved you through happier days and all I can say at this point is that I will love you forever. I will miss you mummy.”<br />
<br />
Barely a month after the passing and with all the pain in the heart, the comedian has given the mother a befitting burial. This happened over the weekend.<br />
<br />
In a post, Basket Mouth said, ”<br />
Goodbye Mum, you’ll live in our hearts forever.”<br />

Donald Trump‘s emergence as the winner of the US presidential elections yesterday led to so much discussions worldwide.<br /><br />Nigerians dragged not only TB Joshua for his “false prophecy” but they also included Prof Wole Soyinka in the online dragging, imploring him to destroy his green card.<br /><br />You might recall that a week ago, the 80 year old Nobel laureate pledged that if Trump won the presidential elections, he would tear his green card.<br /><br />An in an exclusive chat with <a href="http://europe.newsweek.com/exclusive-donald-trump-pull-us-boko-haram-fight-says-soyinka-518928?rm=eu">Newsweek</a> yesterday, he said he will not destroy his U.S. residency permit just yet. He said to the publication,<br /><br />“Why don’t we wait until Trump actually takes office? I’m just going about my normal commitments, but definitely not getting into any more commitments. Nigerian Artiste, Dapo Daniel Oyebanjo popularly known as D’banj says he will not renew his endorsement deal with Ciroc at the expiration of the present contract.<br />
<br />
The artiste, who made the announcement on his instagram page, however, did not give more details for his decision.<br />
<br />
“D’banj has decided not to renew his @cirocnigeria endorsement,’’ it read.<br />
<br />
He showed a videoof himself swaying to his new song while chilling in his pool with his cute dog.<br />
<br />
D’banj was announced as a brand ambassador for Ciroc Nigeria in February, 2015 alongside Banky W.<br />
<br />
The artiste thereafter took to his social media page to confirm to fans that he really did make the decision.<br />
<br />
D’banj’s announcement reads: “iambangalee#BreakingNews: D’Banj has decided not to renew his @cirocnigeria endorsement.”<br />
<br />
Fans had, however, backed the artiste up, encouraging him to start a brand of alcohol for himself, saying “we think he’ll name it Koko.’’

Fans of popular Nigerian rapper, Ice Prince have expressed mixed reactions over his inability to renew his contract with his former music label, Chocolate City.<br />
<br />
Prince had on Thursday announced his departure from Chocolate City, stating he had to leave because his contract with the label was over.<br />
<br />
The departure of the rapper had come as a surprise to his fans as he had recently been made the Vice President of the Chocolate City Group.<br />
<br />
This had created the impression that he was officially a member of the label.<br />
<br />
Prince, who informed fans on social media of his new record label called; “Super Cool Cats’’, promised to give more information on the label in the coming weeks.<br />
<br />
The rapper, who wrote on his Instagram page that Music producers like Mr Kamera and King Illkeyz were part of his new record label, had also signed on a fashion designer.<br />
<br />
In spite of the unexpected surprise of the rapper’s departure from the label he had been with for eight years, the rapper had continued to receive accolades from fans for signing on to a new label.<br />
<br />
Jude Olalekan, a night club DJ based in Abuja, congratulated Prince and wished him well in the new company.<br />
<br />
“I was definitely surprised to hear that he was leaving that label and going to another that I have honestly never heard of. I’m sure he will succeed there, because he is a talented guy so I will just wish him the best in this new journey,” Olalekan said.<br />
<br />
Cassandra Agim, a bartender in Krystal Lounge in Abuja said she was sad to learn that the rapper was leaving and wished that he would continue to be productive in his new label as he was in the former one.<br />
<br />
“I have always loved Ice Prince right from his Oleku days and I am really sad to hear he is leaving Chocolate City. That label helped him become internationally known and he won a BET award in the United States for his amazing songs. I pray he doesn’t regret this move and that he remains productive in this new label,” Agim said.<br />
<br />
Femi Idowu, an instrumentalist who performs at hotels and nightclubs in Abuja, stated that it was most likely that the rapper had issues with the label which made him not to renew his contract.<br />
<br />
“This doesn’t make sense to me, because just a few months ago he was made Vice President of Chocolate City and now he just left because of a contract?<br />
<br />
“I can’t say I believe that the people who made him Vice President didn’t know that his contract was coming to an end. It’s just not reasonable. “I don’t think anyone can walk away from a group that boosted their career and made them who they are.<br />
<br />
“The fact that a track produced by Chocolate City for Ice Prince made him win a Black Entertainment award known as BET all the way in United states, and he feels he shouldn’t renew his contract makes me think there is a problem between both parties but I wish him the best.”<br />
<br />
An upcoming fashion designer, Eromonsele Egwebe said that he was happy that the new label had signed in a fashion designer, adding that it would spur them to work harder in their designs.<br />
<br />
“I am just impressed with the fact that there is a fashion designer in the label.<br />
<br />
“I saw pictures of the designer’s work on the Instagram page of the new label and this will go a long way to inspire designers like me.<br />
<br />
“It is nice that a music label wants to integrate fashion into their brand which makes them a high fashion label of some sort,’’ Egwebe added.<br />
<br />
According to him, we will judge the music when they start producing his new album.

Scores sustained varying degrees of injuries as a suicide bomber believed to be a member of the dreaded Boko Haram sect blew up himself near a mosque in Sulimanti ward of Maiduguri, Borno State in the wee hours of Wednesday, May 11, 2016.<br /><br />The suicide bomber was reportedly strapped with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) which exploded around 4:30 am.<br /><br />An unconfirmed report said that the suicide bombers were two in number, but one of them escaped without detonating his IED.<br /><br />We gathered that men of the Civilian JTF and volunteered residents have reportedly embarked on a search with the aim of apprehending the fleeing suicide bomber.<br /><br />Sources said, “The suicide bomber who disguised as a worshipper attempted to enter the nearby Masalacin Kofar Shehu Councillor (mosque) when Muslim faithful were performing their morning prayers, but the IEDs he was carrying exploded few metres to the mosque leaving the suicide bomber dead with few others who were about to enter the mosque injured”.<br /><br />Narrating the incident, an eye witness, Sulimanti, Mallam Ali Aji, who was at the mosque as at the time of the explosion said the worshippers fled the mosque to avod being victimized.<br /><br />He said:“Immediately after the blast, worshippers had to desert the mosque for dear lives, before men of the Civilian JTF and military arrived the scene and cordon off the whole area, as I am speaking to you now, the charred body of the suicide bomber is scattered all over the place.”<br /><br />The injured victims have been rushed to the hospital for immediate treatment.<br /><br />There is yet to be an official confirmation of the incident from authorities as at the time of filing the report.<br />

The Sokoto State chapter National Council of Muslim Youth Organisation (NACOMYO) says it has commenced voluntary prayer and fasting for the success of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.<br />
<br />
Aliyu Kyautawa, president of the organisation, revealed this in an interview with NAN, saying they were doing so out of the love they have for the country.<br />
<br />
“We are praying and fasting every two weeks for peace, tranquility and success of President Muhammadu Buhari who means well for the people of this country,” he said.<br />
<br />
“We are not sponsored by anybody and we don’t belong to any political party and we are not doing it for any material gain.”<br />
<br />
Kyautawa said members of the group were convinced that Buhari had the ability to liberate the Nigerian masses from the bondage of poverty, insecurity and bad governance.<br />
<br />
He explained that the prayer and fasting was first conceived in 2014 when the country was facing a myriad of challenges.<br />
<br />
“This is why we decided to embark on voluntary prayer and fasting every two weeks for peace in the country,” he said.<br />
<br />
“We are also praying for the success of Gov. Aminu Tambuwal in Sokoto state.<br />
<br />
“Buhari has the masses at heart, but his efforts are being frustrated by some unpatriotic Nigerians.<br />
<br />
“They have been sabotaging his efforts in a bid to make this nation ungovernable for him, but all their efforts would be in vain.”<br />
<br />
He said the organisation had been sponsoring media campaign to educate the public on the need to also change their attitude and support the government, both morally and spiritually.<br />
<br />
Kyautawa said he was optimistic that the hardship being faced by Nigerians would soon be a thing of the past.

 What a sad news!…In a bizarre case of ill fate, two women, 25-year-old Chioma Jonathan and Chinonye Anyanwu, aged 26, died when they were struck by lightning.<br />
<br />The unfortunate incident happened when the two women went to participate in the regular Holy Ghost Hour prayer session of Heavenly Sure Charismatic Church, a Pentecostal church, usually held in the premises of Comprehensive Secondary School, Emekuku in Owerri North LGA, Imo State.<br />25-year-old Chioma Jonathan was a native of Obiangwu in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area and Chinonye Anyanwu, aged 26, from Ahiazu Mbaise LGA, both in Imo State,Nigeria.<br />
<br />Also affected in the lightning strike was the 54-year-old General Overseer of the church, Pastor Luke<br />Nwokocha, who led the short-lived prayer session. He temporarily lost consciousness and was rushed to a hospital by his wife and another member of the church, where he was revived.<br />
<br />In addition, he sustained injuries on his leg.At the headquarters of the police command in Imo State, Pastor Nwokocha recounted to Sunday Sun, what happened.<br /><i><br />    “We always have fellowship every Tuesday. On the fateful day, we had our ‘Holy Ghost Hour’. We were five members in the church. The two deceased sisters, including the sister that swept the church premises; Evangelist Solomon and myself were arranging the benches. Around 4.30pm heavy rain started falling. I started praying for the programme.”</i><br /><br /><br /><br />    Then there was a sudden lightning flash followed by the deafening sound of thunder. The two women, who were in the direct path of the electric field created by the lightning flash died instantly, when they were struck by the streak. Nwokocha, who apparently was off the direct path of the streak received a much lower jolt of electricity, which, however, was strong enough to throw him across the room, cause temporary loss of consciousness and physical injuries on his leg and hands.<br />
<br />    <i>“My wife, Pastor Eucharia Nwokocha and the other church member rushed me to the hospital for medical treatment,” he said.</i><br /><br />Nwokocha who hails from Umuakuru Emekuku in Owerri North LGA further explained:<br /><br />    <i>“I have been in this ministry for 26 years. I have never experienced anything like this. I was called into ministry in 1990. Until that time, I was a policeman and served in the Imo State Police Command and retired at Akwa Ibom Police Command in July 2007. Following my retirement, I decided to focus on my ministry fulltime. I do not understand how it happened, its only God who understands and knows all.”</i><br /><br />Following the incident, the elder brother of Chioma Jonathan reported the case to the Owerri North Divisional Police Station, from where the case was transferred to the homicide department at the headquarters of the Imo State Police Command, Owerri, the state capital.<br />
<br />The Commissioner of Police, Taiwo Lakanu who confirmed the incident said it was a strange occurrence. He added that the cleric was undergoing interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department while the corpses of the dead women had been deposited at the mortuary of the Holy Rosary Hospital, Emekuku.<br />One of the elders of Emekuku community, Godwin John told Sunday Sun that the whole thing was a mystery.<br /><br /> <i>   “We know Pastor Luke usually holds the ‘Holy Ghost Hour’ prayer session. What happened to Pastor Luke Nwokocha and the lightning strike that killed two members of his church is an abomination. We will consult the elders,” he said.</i><br /><br />Meanwhile Lakanu has reassured relations of the deceased women that proper investigation would be carried out by the officer in charge of the homicide section of State Criminal Investigation Department, Supol Innocent Obi, who is working hard with the detectives under him to ensure that there is no miscarriage of justice.

<i><b>Nigeria</b></i> - This young gospel singer, identified as Yvonne Omoarebokhae, has been found dead in a hotel room in Benin, the Edo State capital. The incident occurred last Friday in the hotel located in GRA Benin.<br /><br />It was learnt that the lady, who's married with a 3-year-old child, was allegedly carried away when the 'Pastor' sent her messages on Facebook with promises of helping her perform in many big events.<br /><br />Her husband has cried out, insisting he must know what killed his wife...<br /><br />Yvonne, who is a graduate of the Benson Idahosa University, was said to have lodged in the hotel along with the pastor, whose name was given as Apostle Psalm Okpe.<br /><br /> According to the husband, Mr Odion, his wife met Apostle Okpe on Facebook and after a period of chatting, the pastor, last Thursday, invited her over for a "performance" in Asaba, Warri and Benin.<br /><br />The last time he spoke with his wife was 10am on Friday, she told him that she would soon be home.<br /><br />But to his surprise, at about 9:30pm on the same Friday, the police used his late wife's phone number to call him that he should report at Airport Road police station in Benin.<br /><br />The words of the husband: "I waited for more than two hours at the police station until the police asked me to go home but I insisted on knowing the whereabouts of my wife.<br /><br />“The DPO later told me that my wife was picked at a hotel in the GRA and rushed to the Benin Central hospital where she was confirmed dead. I am yet to see the corpse of my wife to know what happened and who is responsible for her death. We have a three-year old baby at home.”<br />Edo State police commissioner, Chris Ezike, confirmed the death of the young lady, adding that the pastor has been arrested.<br /><br /><i><b>     The Police boss said, "It is under investigation. The man is married and the woman is married. Not until a post mortem is conducted, we cannot conclude what happened. I have asked the matter to be transferred to the State CID.”</b></i><br /><br /><br />One fact that is hidden in this saga is that: this married lady and her husband live in Benin, yet she went and lodge with a so called 'Pastor' in a hotel in the same Benin. We are waiting for the whole truth.
