Ken Agyapong made the comment on Friday on Adom FM, in reaction to the ruling of the Gh¢51.2 million judgment debt case against businessman Alfred Woyome.
The case came to an end on Thursday in an Accra High Court after Justice John Ajet-Nassam ruled that state prosecutors failed to adduce evidence to implicate the ruling NDC financier.
Reacting to the ruling, Mr. Ken Agyapong said emphatically that the case was influenced by the ruling NDC, accusing Madam Betty Mould-Iddrisu and the Attorney General, Marietta Brew Appiah-Opong, of trying to sabotage the case.
The NPP ‘fireman’ said he is not discouraged by the verdict in his fight against corruption, but Ghanaians can judge. He stated that “Ghanaians are better judges than court judges…Judges use technicalities but Ghanaians use wisdom and common sense.”
The MP has presented various documents since December 2011 to prove that some persons in government then, helped Mr. Woyome to receive the judgement debt of GHC 51 million.
On the heels of Thursday’s ruling, Mr. Ken Agyepong says he will make sure Madam Betty Mould-Iddrisu faces the full rigor of the law and imprisoned.
He also alleged that the State deliberately presented a weak case because the Attorney General is a former lawyer to Mr. Woyome, and has therefore was a beneficiary of the Gh¢51.2 million judgment debt.
Ken Agyapong also slammed the Mahama-led NDC administration of doing little to fight corruption in the country, and likened him to Nigerian leader Goodluck Jonathan. He blamed both leaders of being corrupt and “thieves”, because they watch as their country’s economy dwindle.
