In Ghana and many African countries, it is common to see Christians and people of other faith troop from one prayer camp to the other in search of miracles or “deliverance”.

In fact there are many pastors and church leaders who have become extremely popular on the continent because of their perceived ability to pray for special interventions in the lives of their followers.

Mention can be made of the popular Nigerian Prophet, TB Joshua who has a huge following in Ghana and Nigeria as a result of his perceived ability to pray for spiritual intervention to solve people’s problems. Africans rely on intermediaries to gain access to God’s miracles but in Haiti the process of prayer for success and healing is entirely different.
Every year in summer, thousands of pilgrims from all over Haiti make a religious journey to the village of Ville Bonheur and the sacred Waters of Saut d’Eau waterfall, located near Mirebalais and 60 miles north of Port au Prince, one of the more prominent pilgrimage site in Haiti since 1847. Upon reaching this sacred port, worshippers are mandated to go naked in order to have their prayers answered.

It is believed that 150 years ago, Erzulie the goddess of love and beauty, camouflaged in the spirit of the Virgin Mary of miracles appeared on a palm tree close to the waterfall. A French priest, afraid of the superstition this would inspire, cut the tree down, but it nonetheless became an important religious destination for Haitians.
Now, how would you react if a prayer center like this opened near you? Would you also worship there if the solutions to all your problems on earth would be guaranteed?
