Here are some of the ‘seemingly’ harmless everyday habits:
1. Sitting down for too long
Physical inactivity increases risk for colon, breast, endometrial
and lung cancers. People who are sedentary tend to have increased risk
of inflammation, which can increase cancer risk.
If your job requires you to sit down for long hours, you need to
take breaks to stretch, walk —anything so you are not just sitting for
long periods of time. Physical activity seems to help balance your body
hormones and keeps you healthy.
Sugary foods and drinks promote obesity, which increases the risk for colon, breast, esophogeal, endometrial, kidney, pancreatic, gallbladder, and ovarian cancers.Foods with high sugar content should be taken only once in a while and in small quantities.
3. Drinking alcohol
Alcohol increases the risk for colorectal, breast, esophogeal, mouth, pharynx, larynx, and liver cancers. Alcohol can also increase excess body fat, which leads back to the obesity-cancer link.
4. Engaging in oral sex
Oral sex increases the risk of oropharyngeal cancer caused by human papilloma virus infection acquired from oral to genital contact.
5. Keeping your cell phone in your pocket
Cell phones emit radiation that can cause cancer in the area exposed to the phones, especially the breast. Men who carry cell phones in their breast pockets are also at risk. You should carry your phone in a bag or purse to protect yourself
