Wale Announces New Album, Shares First Single “My PYT”

It’s been a little while since we heard from Wale, but now he’s back with new music. Last year he released The Album About Nothing, and in the past few months he’s been working on the follow-up. Today he shared more details about his forthcoming fifth studio album SHINE—which is short for “Still Here Ignoring Negative Energy.”

The album announcement is delivered with the first official single titled “My PYT.” Taking inspiration from Michael Jackson’s 1982 classic “P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing),” Wale shares his version as he continues his hunt for the perfect PYT for him.

Wale’s new single comes in time for the summer with the fun, bouncy production provided by The Dope Boyz. “My PYT” is one of his more lighthearted tracks, and gives us a preview of what we can expect to hear on SHINE when it gets released this coming fall via Maybach Music Group/Atlantic Records.
