Jackson is set to reprise his role as Avengers architect and recruiter in the Brie Larson-starring movie, after his character was last seen in 2015's 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'.

Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury is set to make his return in a Marvel movie. Following rumors which swirled during the Independence Day holiday, Deadline has now confirmed that the veteran movie actor will reprise his role as Avengers architect and recruiter in "Captain Marvel".

Jackson, thus, will join Brie Larson who has been tapped to play the title role a.k.a. Carol Danvers. Other cast members have not been announced yet, but Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck are on board to direct the female-led superhero movie.

Nick Fury was last seen in 2015's "Avengers: Age of Ultron". Prior to his appearance in "The Avengers" sequel, he was critically shot and hospitalized in 2014's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier".

"Captain Marvel" follows Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot who gains powers after her DNA becomes fused with an alien after an accident. Screenwriter Nicole Perlman previously revealed that it wouldn't be a straight adaptation of the comic book to avoid similarities with DC's Green Lantern.

The movie is slated for a March 8, 2019 release in the U.S.

The Universal Pictures animation is coming in lower than anticipated, while the Ansel Elgort-starring action movie outperforms with an estimated $21 million.

"Despicable Me 3" is a new champion at North American box office. The animated threequel tops the chart with an estimated $75.4 million on the Fourth of July weekend, despite opening lower than expectations of $85M-$90M.

Internationally, the movie fares better with an estimated $95.6 million from 52 territories this weekend. This should bring its international cume to $116.9 million so far.

"This is an outstanding performance across the board," said Universal's international distribution chief Duncan Clark. "We've got a number of huge territories yet to release, so this is a very, very strong foundation for us."

The Universal Pictures movie's performance is the latest sign of sequel fatigue, following the disappointing domestic performance of "Transformers: The Last Knight". The fifth installment of the "Transformers" film franchise drops two places to No. 3 on its second weekend with an estimated $17 million, or dropping 62% from last week.

Another newcomer, "Baby Driver", drives off beyond expectations with approximately $21 million over the three-day weekend and should see a five-day gross over $30 million. Landing on the runner-up place, the music-driven heist flick is by far the largest opening for director Edgar Wright. It nearly doubles the $10.6 million "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" collected on its debut weekend in 2010 and is likely to become Wright's highest grossing domestic release.

The critically-acclaimed movie doesn't enjoy much boost from the Fourth of July holiday, since adults won't take their kids to watch the R-rated film. Still, it drew both young and old, with 40% of ticket buyers comprising of people under the age of 25.

"It is great to see a non-IP film breakthrough this summer. It is a shot in the arm for anyone who supports original filmmaking," said Sony worldwide president of marketing and distribution Josh Greenstein. The movie boasts a star-studded cast which includes Ansel Elgort, Lily James, Jon Hamm, Kevin Spacey and Jamie Foxx.

Placing fourth is "Wonder Woman", which adds an estimated $16.1 million in its fifth week. This brings its domestic gross to $346.6 million so far. "Cars 3" rounds out the top five with approximately $9.5 million or dropping 60.4%.

R-rated comedy "The House" starring Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler has a quite opening, debuting in the sixth place with an estimated $9 million this weekend. It is one of the worst openings of Ferrell's career.

Top Ten Movies at Weekend Box Office for June 30-July 2:
The Letty depicter shows there's no bad blood between her and her on-screen love interest after she threatened to quit the franchise if it didn't show 'some love to the women.'

Things are still good between Michelle Rodriguez and Vin Diesel after she threatened to quit the "Fast and Furious" franchise. Four days after she complained on Instagram about the way the franchise treated the female stars, the actress has set things straight that her comments were not directed at Diesel.

"Vin, for many years you’ve been the biggest supporter of strong women," Rodriguez said in a video posted on Diesel's Instagram account, with the actor next to her. "I've always appreciated that about you throughout the years... Just know that if I ever post anything, that it's not you I'm talking to."

Diesel responded with a laugh, "Of course it's not me!" The hunky actor also showed his love for his co-star by kissing her forehead mid-video.

He captioned the video, "Proud of Our saga... but we must try to reach higher each time. The challenge is what makes it fun and exciting. Its also why this saga has reached the level that it has... you have been the best fans in film history and we are forever grateful... Dom and Letty."
Rodriguez previously said on her Instagram account, "I hope they decide to show some love to the women of the franchise on the next one. Or I just might have to say goodbye to a loved franchise." While she didn't detail what the issue was, a source tells HollywoodLife.com that it may have something to do with the plans to make spin-offs centering on Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw.

"When there's talk of spin-offs with The Rock and Jason's characters, she gets upset because she thinks their should be a chance for her character to have a spin-off," so claims the source.

The 'Oops!... I Did It Again' songstress caused a chaos during her visit to Jerusalem, as she had to make her way through a mob of fans by foot.

Britney Spears went to the Western Wall in the Old City of Jerusalem on Sunday, July 2 ahead of her much-anticipated Tel Aviv concert. The pop star was spotted at the holy site causing quite a commotion, which was described by Israeli news outlets as a veritable mob scene.

The Western Wall is mainly accessible by foot so it was a challenge for Britney to make her way through a crowd of fans, press and onlookers. Excited fans mobbed the "Toxic" hitmaker, including jumping on her, during her visit to the Jewish holy site.

Following her raucous visit, Britney reportedly canceled a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu which was set for Sunday evening. The meeting was supposed to include pediatric cancer patients. The 35-year-old singer was scheduled to meet them on Monday, July 3 before her concert.

Britney was set to wrap up her summer Asian tour at Tel Aviv's Yarkon Park on Monday night. She had spent the last few weeks criss-crossing Asia to promote her latest album "Glory", which was released last year. "Britney: Live in Concert" tour marked the megastar's first trek outside the U.S. since 2011.

The 'All I Want for Christmas Is You' hitmaker is forced to pay in cash during her shopping spree in Beverly Hills.

Mariah Carey suffered an embarrassing moment during her recent shopping spree in Beverly Hills. According to a source, the "All I Want for Christmas Is You" hitmaker was forced to pay in cash as her credit cards were declined.

"She was shopping on Rodeo Drive and her credit cards were declined," reveals an eyewitness, "When it happened at Louis Vuitton she thought it was a fluke. But when it happened three more times she was embarrassed and humiliated."

Mariah reportedly played it off like it was a mistake, as she left and came back to purchase the high-end items. "She returned with an assistant and her manager Stella [Bulochnikov], who made a total scene," the eyewitness tells Radar Online, "They ended up paying cash."

"But Mariah is blaming her manager for the cancelations, postponement and low ticket sales of her tour with Lionel Richie. She's also had bad press and business deals. Stella keeps saying everything is going to be all right, but it's not," continues the insider.
Described as 'Chucky's bloodiest outing to date,' the upcoming movie sees the murderous doll slicing its victims in an asylum.

This Halloween is going to be creepier with the return of Chucky. Four years after its last movie "Curse of Chucky", the demonic doll is back in "Cult of Chucky" that features some familiar faces, including Nica (Fiona Dourif), Chucky's now grown-up nemesis Andy (Alex Vincent) and Chucky's bloodthirsty bride Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly). The first trailer is now out for your viewing pleasure.

Confined to an asylum for the criminally insane for the past four years, Nica Pierce is erroneously convinced that she, not Chucky, murdered her entire family. But when her psychiatrist introduces a new therapeutic "tool" to facilitate his patients' group sessions - an all-too-familiar "Good Guy" doll with an innocently smiling face - a string of grisly deaths begins to plague the asylum, and Nica starts to wonder if maybe she isn't crazy after all.

Andy Barclay, Chucky's now-grown-up nemesis from the original "Child's Play", races to Nica's aid. But to save her he'll have to get past Tiffany, who will do anything, no matter how deadly or depraved, to help her beloved devil doll.

The trailer arrives in two versions, the red band and the green band version. The red band version offers glimpses of some gory murder scenes, including Chucky cutting off a head and Chucky sticking its hand through the back of someone's head. Director Don Mancini previously promised that the seventh installment would be Chucky's bloodiest outing to date.
Mariah Carey sent a video message and the stars of the long-running British TV show "Coronation Street" were among the mourners at a funeral for Manchester concert bombing victim Martyn Hett.

The music-loving 29-year-old was a self-professed "superfan" of the Manchester-set soap opera.

Hett was one of 22 people killed May 22 when a suicide bomber struck concertgoers leaving an Ariana Grande show in the city in northwest England.

Hett's "Coronation Street"-themed coffin was taken to Stockport Town Hall in Greater Manchester by horse-drawn carriage Friday for his funeral. A producer and several actors from "Coronation Street" were among hundreds of mourners at the service, whose dress code was "black and fabulous."

In a video message, Carey said "I know you're shining down on us from heaven."

Hett's father, Paul Hett, told the gathering that his son "was inspirational and this in turn inspired everyone around him."

"In a very nice way, Martyn loved being in the limelight and the center of attention," he said. "He would be loving every minute of this fantastic celebration of his life."
Ever heard of an occult group that does not feed on human blood for rituals? If you answered no, then you would be surprised at this revelation.

Ever since mythology has been in the world's history books, what every African knows is that occultism thrives on the use of human blood for making billions. It is not entirely true, if you asked me.

Now, you can build that multi million dollar mansion you dreamt of, or the latest edition of the Range Rover you have ever admired without any hustle.

Our rituals involve no human blood. We have our own way of securing wealth from the spiritual realm, and that makes our club the most successful billionaires club that doesn't deal with killing of humans.

Alsha Billionaires' Club has the panacea to your poverty. About 4,000 Billionaires in Ghana belong to our club which has been in existence since 1954. They just stood against the status quo of "work hard and earn little"and joined us. They are their own bosses and eat, wear, drive, whatever they want.

Jah Chris after joining this prestigious group was able to buy a Range Rover for his girlfriend.
Why does light keep us awake and darkness make us sleepy?

Many of us have heard that going to sleep when it is dark outside is healthy, as light and darkness influence our circadian rhythm. But how exactly does light affect our sleep-wakefulness cycle? New research may have found part of the answer.

Now that summer is here, those of us who want to sleep in after 6 a.m. will need a good pair of blinds; light tends to wake us up. But why does this happen?

The majority of us know that light plays a role in regulating our circadian rhythm, but how light directly affects sleep is poorly understood. Researchers from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in Pasadena set out to examine the effect of light on sleep.

The lead investigator of the new research - which is published in the journal Neuron - is David Prober, a professor of Biology at Caltech.

Prof. Prober explains the motivation behind his research, saying, "Researchers had previously identified the photoreceptors in the eye that are required for the direct effect of light on wakefulness and sleep. But we wanted to know how the brain uses this visual information to affect sleep."

To get their answers, Prof. Prober and team chose to examine zebrafish, which are animals that have a sleep/wakefulness pattern similar to that of humans, and whose visual system is transparent, thus enabling researchers to take images of their neurons in a non-invasive manner.

How a protein responds to light

First author Wendy Chen conducted the experiments. She used zebrafish that were genetically modified to express a certain protein, called prokineticin 2 (Prok2), in excess.

The researchers found that the zebrafish who had over-expressed Prok2 tended to go to sleep during the day and stay up during the night.

Interestingly, this did not seem to depend on the fish's regular circadian rhythm. Instead, the effect was influenced exclusively by whether the lights were turned on or off around them.

The results of the experiments indicate that Prok2 can inhibit the waking effect that light normally has, as well as the sleep-inducing effect of darkness.

Next, the scientists induced genetic mutations in both the zebrafish's Prok2 and its receptor, to see how these would affect the light-controlled sleep-wakefulness pattern.

They found that the zebrafish developed "light-dependent sleep defects." For instance, fish with a mutated Prok2 receptor tended to be more active when the lights were on and less so when they were off - which is the opposite of what had previously been noticed in fish with excessive Prok2 but functional Prok2 receptors.

Finally, the scientists set out to investigate whether light, in order to regulate sleep, needed other sleep-inducing proteins in the brain.

The researchers found that excessive levels of Prok2 also raised the levels of galanin, which is a neuropeptide found in the brain's anterior hypothalamus (which plays a key role in regulating sleep).

More research is needed in order to understand the sleep-promoting interplay between genes and neurons in humans, as well as to investigate whether or not the Prok2 neuropeptide has the same effect in humans.

If further research determines that the proteins behave similarly in the human brain, this study could pave the way for new sleep- or wakefulness-inducing medication.

Prof. David Prober adds, "Though diurnal animals such as zebrafish spend most of their time asleep at night and awake during the day, they also take naps during the day and occasionally wake up at night, similar to many humans.

"Our study's results suggest that levels of Prok2 play a critical role in setting the correct balance between sleep and wakefulness during both the day and the night."
Eyewitnesses claimed that the 61-year-old momager and the Canadian musician enjoyed an intimate dinner date in Los Angeles on Tuesday, June 27.

Is Kris Jenner ditching Corey Gamble for David Foster? The "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star allegedly had a dinner date with the 67-year-old songwriter/producer at Craig's Restaurant in Los Angeles on Tuesday, June 27.

An eyewitness told Page Six that they were "holding hands," and Kris later "kissed Foster on the cheek." Although they weren't photographed together, Kris and David are believed to have been friends for years as both of them were stepparents of Brody Jenner and Brandon Jenner. Kris' ex-husband Caitlyn Jenner was married to Linda Thompson, who later married David.

After the alleged dinner date, Kris was seen leaving the restaurant. In some photos obtained by Daily Mail, the 61-year-old momager looked in high spirits as she could be seen smiling at the cameras. She was wearing a red patterned dress which she paired with matching heels and a handbag. She accessorized with red sunglasses and a gold necklace. However, Kris ended up flashing the spanx she wore underneath her dress, which became translucent under the cameras' flashes.

Although Kris looked happy during her outing, Corey was nowhere to be seen. It was reported that she had to shower him with money in order to stop him from leaving her. "He's been put on a flat $30,000-per-month stipend, with bonuses for each appearance he makes on the show plus whenever they're snapped out on a date," a source revealed. "Corey's proud he held out for more money but it's not an easy situation, because deep down he doesn't have the hots for Kris."
Irish reporter Caitriona Perry, who was singled out by President Trump during his phone call with Irish PM Leo Varadkar, describes the experience as a 'bizarre moment.'

Donald Trump can't stop being Donald Trump even when he has become President of the United States. He just gave the press another reason to mock him as he interrupted a call with new Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar to compliment a female reporter's "nice smile."

In footage that has gone viral, Trump said to Varadkar over the phone, "Well, we have a lot of your Irish press watching us," while several reporters looked on. He then pointed at a journalist, Caitriona Perry, and gestured for her to come to him.

"And where are you from?" he asked her. "Go ahead. Come here, come here. Where are you from? We have all of this beautiful Irish press." After Perry introduced herself to Trump, he said to Varadkar, "She has a nice smile on her face so I bet she treats you well."

Perry shared the video on Twitter and described the experience as a "bizarre moment" in the caption.
CNN's anchors couldn't help weighing in on Trump's controversial behavior. Symone Sanders commented, "I would describe this as how Donald Trump always acts when there are women in the room. It was condescending. It was just creepy."

The former press secretary to Bernie Sanders and a Democratic strategist added, "Why is the President of the United States picking out reporters who just happen to be aesthetically pleasing and calling them over and telling them they've got a nice smile? It's just absolutely disgusting."

Republican strategist Ana Navarro was shocked by Trump's comments to Perry. "I've got so many issues with Donald Trump, starting with his lying ways, than the fact he ogles at women. I've come to just accept it as it is what it is," she said. She added though, "This is a guy who ran beauty pageants. He likes women. This is the way he acts."

The 'Umbrella' hitmaker is reportedly writing a new song to get back at her haters who have body shamed her after a sports writer called her 'fat.'

Don't ever mess with Rihanna! After clapping back at body-shamers who called her "fat" on Monday, June 5 with a hilarious Gucci Mane meme, she has now reportedly planned to take another step by producing an inspirational song to get back at her haters.

Although Rih has coolly responded to her haters with the meme, she was said to be pretty wound up after being body shamed. "Like anyone, you don't want to be looked down on and you don't want to be treated differently on how you look. So add that times millions and you can imagine she didn't like being body shamed," a source told HollywoodLife.com.

But thanks to the "tough" situation, she was inspired to write an empowering music. "Though it hurt, it also lit a fire under her," the source continued. "She got mad, but she made sure not to cry about it. She instead has started writing about it because music has always been her outlet to get through tough times and it inspired her to write a lot."

As a good musician, the Bajan beauty turns her emotions into a musical inspiration. "So out of something bad it looks like we'll get great music out of it. So there is a silver lining to all of that has happened to her," the source concluded.

Rih clapping back at body-shamers came just days after Barstool Sports published a now-deleted article with a headline read, "Is Rihanna Going to Make Being Fat the Hot New Trend?" In the article, author Chris "Spags" Spagnuolo wrote that the 29-year-old songstress "looked like she was wearing a sumo suit."
